Only autochthonous grape varieties are cultivated: Lagrein, Vernatsch, Gewürztraminer and South Tyrolean Goldmuskateller. They reflect the unadulterated attachment of the owners to their homeland.

Its deep garnet red color prepares us for the scents of various wild berries; blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants. It is full-bodied on the palate and with its velvety tannins gives the connoisseur a strong and persistent finish.

Growing area:

On the south-western slopes between S. Justina and S. Magdalena on deep, dry sandy river gravel or moraine protective soils with good humus content; sea level approx. 300 m, slope inclination from 20 – 70%.

Form of upbringing and cultivation:

Pergola and trellis in transverse terracing. We practice sustainable cultivation and orientate ourselves as far as possible to the principles of organic farming.
Age of the vines 16 years.

Pressing and ageing:

The hand-picked Lagrein grapes are de-stemmed and after a cool maceration (20 -26°C) for 10 days, they finish their sugar breakdown within about 10 days without the pomace. Further refinement and maturation also takes place in steel tanks, whereby we deliberately use simple cellar techniques (aeration, sedimentation, heat and cold input, filtration) in order to maintain the unaltered character of the location and vintage.
Bottling about 10 months after the harvest, followed by 4 months of bottle aging.

Wine:

Further refinement takes place in steel tanks, using simple cellar techniques (aeration, sedimentation, heat and cold, filtration) to preserve the characteristics of the vineyard and the vintage.
Bottling about 10 months after the harvest.

On the nose it captivates with its exceptionally spicy nutmeg note and exotic fruit aromas (kiwi, mango, lemon blossom), while on the palate the fine acidity and balanced structure make for a lasting impression on the finish.

Its bright ruby red color puts us in the right mood for the delicately floral bouquet of violets and the fruity cherry and raspberry aromas. On the palate, it is medium bodied with silky tannins and a pleasant marzipan note, and gives us the typical light bitter almond aroma on the finish.

On the southern slopes of the St. Magdalener area on lean dry porphyry weathered soils with light loam and high skeleton content and good humus content;
Sea level 350 m, slope inclination of 30 – 80 %.

Pergola and trellis in transverse terracing; we practice sustainable cultivation and orientate ourselves as far as possible to the principles of organic farming.
Age of the vines 21 years.

Pressing and ageing:

The hand-picked Vernatsch grapes are de-stemmed and after a cool 8-day maceration (20 – 26 °C), they finish the sugar breakdown within approx. 10 days without the pomace. Further refinement and maturation also takes place in steel tanks, whereby we deliberately use simple cellar techniques (aeration, sedimentation, heat and cold input, filtration) in order to maintain the unaltered character of the location and vintage.
